The Formulae for dividend yield as below
Dividend yield in percentage = (Dividend payout Per Annum – Tax Rate) divided by the (Current Share Price)
For Example
Stock Counter : ABC
1 Lot of Share : $10.00
Number of Stock you have : 1 Lot
Dividend Payout Per Annum = $1.00
Tax Rate = 10%
Note : Tax Rate in Singapore for Tier-1 Listed Stock is 0%
Step 1
Calculate Dividend Pay out Before Tax
Dividend Pay Out ( Before Tax) = (Dividend Payout Per Annum) x [n number of Lots x 1000]
Note: 1 Lot = 1000
Dividend Pay Out ( Before Tax) = $1.00 x [1 x 1000]
Dividend Pay Out ( Before Tax) = $1,000
Step 2
Calculate Dividend Pay out After Tax
Dividend Pay Out ( After Tax) = Dividend Pay Out ( Before Tax) – (Dividend Pay Out ( Before Tax) x[Tax Rate/100] ))
Dividend Pay Out ( After Tax) = $1,000 – ( $1,000 x [ 10/100])
Dividend Pay Out ( After Tax) = $1,000 -$ 100
Dividend Pay Out ( After Tax) = $ 900
Step 3
Calculate Actual Dividend Yield After Tax
Actual Dividend Yield =( ( Dividend Pay Out ( After Tax) / ( n Number of Lot x 1000 x Share Price )) x 100%
Actual Dividend Yield =(( $900 / (1 x 1000 x $10.00 )) x 100%
Actual Dividend Yield = 9%
